Young Scot Awards 2016

One sure way to spice up any working week is to slip on a sexy dress, hit the capital and attend a black tie event with one of your besties. And that's exactly what I did this week as I headed along to the Young Scot Awards 2016. After pulling a quick office change, my friend Ashley and I set up our glam station on the train and got face ready for the red carpet. Already cutting it fine, partnered with a delayed train and unexpected walk (thanks roadworks), we missed all the red carpet glamour by just five minutes. So what do you do when you're dressed to the nines with a few hours to spare on a casual Wednesday evening? Head to a local Italian to enjoy a romantic meal for two (and a little too much wine), of course.

After fuelling for the night ahead we were finally on our way to enjoy the awards. Not really sure what to expect I was completely blown away by the truly inspiring kids that hit the big screen. From young successful authors to transgender advocates and inspiring entrepreneurs I was honestly stunned at the determination and dedication these young kids possessed. We don't often hear a lot about Scottish talent in this way so it really opened my eyes and made me feel so proud to be Scottish. Of course, the kids were the true stars of the evening but there was also a few celeb appearances from the likes of TOWIE/Made in Chelsea stars and even Scottish wrestler/Ayrshire funny guy, Grado. With nothing black tie appropriate in my wardrobe I borrowed this gorgeous LBD from my friend Lesley and I'm in love! It's a total bargain as well costing a teeny £28 - fur real! I then paired it with a small studded belt and my trusty black lace up heels from Public Desire, et voila, red carpet ready in under five minutes.

For the love of jeans (and chocolate)

Happy Easter everyone! If your weekend has been anything like mine I'm sure it's been fuelled with delicious food, Cadbury's chocolate eggs and one too many glasses of wine. I love long weekends and even more so when everyone is in a celebratory / happy mood. I've tried to make the most of every day so far, kicking off my long weekend with a visit to The Lifestyle Lab for the Debenhams Beauty and Bellini's night. I honestly had such a lovely evening catching up with some of my favourite blogging ladies. I don't think we actually left until near enough 11pm! I will share a few snaps of the event along with what we got in the fabulous goody bag in my next post. Sneak peek - I've actually discovered a new favourite beauty product that I've been wearing religiously since. But again, more on that next time.

On Friday my friend Danielle and I hired bikes at Strathclyde Park for a little light but fun exercise before returning to mine for some wine and food. Not letting the chilly wind hault our plans, we lit a fire pit, grabbed a few blankets and enjoyed a glass of wine (or three) out the back. This is the first time this year that I've sat out in my back garden and I couldn't have been happier. I really want to adopt the Danish way of living and embrace the outdoors more, no matter what the weather. If you're wondering at all what I'm rambling on about check out this article in Stylist.

On Saturday The Boy and I went along to my friends Tessa's lovely house warming and then on Sunday it was a chocolate breakfast, Sunday roast and movie kind-of-day.

I've fell madly in love with this pair of jeans from Monki. The shape and relaxed style of them have left me struggling to take them off lately. They're amazing to dress up and dress down. I actually wore these to the house-warming on Saturday with a pair of lacy heels and cut out shoulder top. I don't normally share evening or 'fancy' outfits on my blog but if this is something you would like to see let me know!

Debenhams SS16 press show

Spring has sprung (despite today's drizzly weather) and there's no better way to welcome the new season than the annual Debenhams Spring/Summer press show. Always known to throw an excellent party, the PR girls at Debenhams did not disappoint. This year's event took place in the Corinthian - in the most gorgeous room I've ever laid my eyes on. I was honestly gob smacked at 1. how pretty the room was and 2. how I'd somehow missed it on my many visits to the venue in the past. The seriously jaw-dropping interior got me thinking about the beautiful restaurant Carrie Bradshaw held her engagement party in. Oh how I miss the days of new Sex and the City episodes...

Now onto the clothes. By far, the stand out pieces for me were, well, pretty much everything they had on display from Nine by Savannah Miller. The designer was introduced to the store last year but this is the first time I've fell in love with her designs. I'm a sucker for cute PJs and the combination of silk, lace and stars have me hooked. With many a nights in planned for the next few months (due to a need to save money and a serious lack of funds) I think it goes without saying that I need one of those sets in my life. I mean, if you're gonna be spending a lot of time at home you may as well look chic while doing it. Am I right? 

After indulging in a picture perfect breakfast from the Debs Deli I was off on my merry way. Oh, not before sipping a sneaky glass of prosecco on the way out. Scandalous behaviour on a working Thursday morning....
